L.I: WALT recognise that the saints in Heaven are united to the members of the Church who are on earth.

We made paper weaving where we drew images of the Holy Spirit, and symbols of saints to show how saints in Heaven and the members of the Church on earth are all woven together by Jesus and the Holy Spirit through Baptism and prayer/karakia.

L.I: WALA the importance of All Saints Day

L.I:  WALA The Feast of All Saints

Room Four worked cooperatively with their Thinking Partners as they highlighted the main ideas of what the Feast of All Saints meant.

After completing their main ideas, they summarised their findings.  Here are some of these findings.

  • People who have died are still members of the Church.
  • Those who are not baptised may still be welcomed into Heaven as long as they live the life of God.
  • All brothers, sisters, grandparents, mums, dads are all welcomed in the Feast of All Saints
  • The Feast of All Saints reminds people who belong to the Church on earth that their families who are in Heaven love them very much and still continue to pray for them.
  • You don’t have to be alive to be loved.
  • There are many holy people who are now following Jesus in Heaven.
  • Most people who are Saints have been Priests, Bishops or Religious People.
  • We celebrate All Saints Day because it reminds us ask those who have died before us to pray for us.

Room 4 used the Thinking Tool called Chalk Talk to discuss the Gospel of Luke 4: 8 and the ways we worship God. Here were our ideas.

WALA-how Abraham and Sarah responded to God's call.

In R.E, a group of Room 4 students shared their thoughts about how it's like to be an expert on the passage that we have shared. See what we think. (if this is not the video, it is because that video did not have the correct style to be uploaded.) Please add a comment.

The Religious Groups in the Time of Jesus

We have been learning about the four main Religious Groups in the Time of Jesus.

Zealots

-were not a religious group but a very political group of people.
-they believed in somethings very stongly and would act on their beliefs
-were not happy about the Romans being in their land and wanted their ruling overruled by the Messiah.

Pharisees

-ordinary Jewush men who were devoted to the law and tried to live out every detail of it.

-there were some Pharisee s who were holy. One we know is called St Paul.

Sadducees

-were another powerful religious group.

-they came form rich priestly families and did not believe in life after death.

-they argued with Jesus.

-they strongly believe in the saying "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"

Scribes-

-Jewish men who were trained in the law and who wrote down the dtails of the law.

-The Scribes and the Pharisees were the people who opposed Jesus most when he begain to teach publicly.

-Didn't believe Jesus was the Messiah.

All of these groups believed that they were the Chosen People of God and only men were members of these groups. All of these groups were Jews and were deeply aware of the presence of God in their everyday lives and knew the Old Testament very well.
